Thank you for the updates. Many unknowns, changing information obviously. The most frightening sentence I parsed, “Anyone on the ground, trust your instincts.” Lord have Mercy.
I understand and appreciate the news about the toxins in the East Palestine. Do you know the Catawba River is being polluted?
I do not understand the lack of attention by national news to the on-going pollution generated by New Indy Containerboard in Catawba, SC. This plant has been spewing toxic fumes for over two years, and has only received a “slap on the wrist” by the health agencies at both the state and federal level. Over 50,000 reports have been filed with SC DHEC, noting health and quality of life impacts for residents as far as 30 miles from the mill. No-one in the national news has picked up the story. We need help! How can we get the proper attention to make them fix this now? Why are they allowed to continue operate with inadequate equipment?
I hope that all of these testing centers are truly truthful. Just keep remembering what happened on 9/11. How many if our true hero's ended up getting cancer from this event when our leaders said everything was fine. People just don't want to be lied to anymore. Especially now when all of the East Palestine children and families have breathed in that air.
Yes, Suzanne I remember that and appreciate it! However that was almost two years ago and New Indy continues to operate with an inadequate or NO stripper. They have been given until 2025 to install a new one! Meanwhile additional findings prove they are dumping toxins into the Catawba river. Local government is looking the other way. People are tired of reporting the stench with no immediate relief. New Indy is espousing being a great corporate neighbor! We need another shot in the arm to once again bring this issue to the forefront. People are “quiet moving”. So sad.
In my mis-spent youth I worked in the rail industry. Every time I visit Washington D.C. my hair stands on end as I watch trains pull of hazmat pull though the city. I guess the Homeland and DOT guys have windows that face in another direction. Years ago Canadian National purchased the EJ & E. They upgraded it and used it to route traffic around Chicago rather than using the old historical route through the city. DC and many other urban areas should have this type of infrastructure improvements. And of course DC is now finally replacing the 100 year old bridge that slows down Amtrak under the new infrastructure bill. Where is the investment to electrify the railroads to end the noise and exhaust pollution from the locomotives? See the New Republic article by Prem Thakker 02/16/2023.
This purports to be a Feb. 8 representation of particle dispersion. Why is it so extraordinarily difficult to get simple information as to what states the particles have flown over, and whether they have done so in dangerous concentrations? (This map looks like they were long ago over Vermont and parts of Canada and New Hampshire.) Where are they now?
Erin, I think you need to step in and help the people in the area of the “controlled “ burn in Ohio. You may be their best chance of getting the truth!
Based on Ms. Brockovich’s reputation, I thought this newsletter would offer a more cautious demeanor. It spit facts, but then sort of leaves it up to the resident. This is just so frightening! Thank you Ms. Brockivich for all of your work!

Please see a LOCAL news station’s reporting on the subject. https://www.wcnc.com/newindy
I hope you can help millions of us who are dealing with this every time the wind blows from the plant.

Is our drinking water safe, if we use a filtered water pitcher?

* Those seem like very low-lying particles.
* This appears to have reached, and covered, the Connecticut River.

Do you know if the EPA or any other agencies on site are testing area soil & water for dioxins?
Regarding water filtration - do I need both aeration system and activated carbon treatment system or just one ? Thanks
Please pay attention to where your bottled water is bottled at and where the water comes from. This information is clearly found on the label.

Would a carbon or mushroom filter help?
