Why are we not talking about Iowa Water and the crisis going on there? Iowa ranks second in the nation for overall cancer incidence rates and is one of the few states where cancer rates are actively increasing. Recent comprehensive reports by the Iowa Environmental Council and the Harkin Institute link this public health issue heavily to agricultural runoff, finding correlated risks from elevated drinking water contaminants like nitrates and pesticides, alongside environmental factors like radon and other environmental contaminants, including nitrates due to fertilizer, livestock manure, pesticides, and PFAS.
Several times, I have sent information from your email to our Rep. Celeste Maloy here in Utah. There is a major problem with the Colorado River slowing down, which provides water to seven states. There has been a drought in the South West for the last ten years. Lake Mead and Lake Powell are at extremely low levels water-wise. Water power from dams creates electricity and turbines won't turn without sufficient water. This is a major concern. I told her that we need water more than AI data centers, which use billions of gallons of water and take a lot of POWER.. Water is critical for daily human life and for agriculture to grow food.. Arizona and California's crops feed the nation. No water! No food! Thanks for all you do in order to awaken people.
In our area, American Water waited almost TWO MONTHS to tell us that we had a leak in our pipes. It cost us over $1000 to THAT company to replace the errant pipe. I did a lot of research about HOW this happened. In 2024, the Indiana State Legislature signed off on funding a NEW system for American Water, such that it would supposedly let a customer know IN REAL TIME when a pipe fails. Turns out, they're using their new system all right. TO MAKE MONEY FOR AMERICAN WATER & also to mislead customers & that they should buy into ANOTHER part of their company, the "non-municipal part" that sells "insurance." THAT would have saved very little IF we had gone that route because you're REQUIRED to use whatever company American Water wants to send, now matter how long it takes. THAT WAY, who knows how long it would be? In our case, we already had a plumbing firm who could fix our system. WE also got the "right" to open the meter cover at the easement even though that's ILLEGAL. OTHERWISE we would have paid American Water EVEN MORE for the excess water that would have drifted into nowhere from THEIR pipes. What the heck else can we do when the state legislature signed off on something where American Water NEVER DID keep up THEIR END of a "bargain," UNLESS both signers were AWARE that American Water never intended to give customers feedback in real time after all?

Yea suburban takeovers and cutting high percentages of water employees are a factor as well, then aggressive even brutal collection shutoff practices
