Friends, your input is so valuable, thanks for being here! Almost every town I've worked in has multiple groups working on an issue. There's never one person or one way to make the right thing happen. This is an important issue that should be covered. It's not about who is featured, though we do our best to find stories that are compelling and educational... It's about helping communities find ways to overcome pollution in their backyard. If anyone thinks I can show up to their town and get a plant shut down, they are sadly mistaken. Ha! Did anyone see the 20/20 special with me? The town of Hinkley that I worked with in the 1990s is still fighting and mostly a ghosttown, even after a huge lawsuit and movie. My book is called Superman's Not Coming for a reason! My greatest hope is that all those affected can work together to fix this problem. It's an all hands on deck situation and hope it can be resolved for everyone. Keep sharing, keep talking, keep fighting.

Here's what happened and I have screenshots and had my mother attend the last zoom call we had together as leaders so I had proof. I woke up to some very rude messages from Courtney and Jennifer. They deleted a post I put up late one night telling people to see their doctors if they were sick. Because why would you not. The rude messages consisted of I told you that in confidence. You can't post that. You'll get in trouble. Also have emails where they say people just won't understand. Then the very same day Rep Willis from NC posted the exact same thing, DHEC said to see your doctors. On our last zoom meeting they informed me the reason they didn't help me moderate the page on mother's day was because they wanted to enjoy their mothers day. So the three of them left me to do it alone and said nothing. Then told me they didn't have time to moderate and in the next breathe turned around and asked me to give them the entire group. They also told me they would just veto my decisions 3 to 1 and never listened to a single idea I had. Our team meetings in person consisted of the 4 because there was another lady who doesn't want to be public all yelling over eaxhother while I sat there in awe that 3 women older than me didn't know how to construct a meeting.

Ridiculous. I'm only writing this because I have proof of it all.

Erin B. Maybe looking for the truth before writing an article would be beneficial. These women were kicked out of the original Facebook Group for not being transparent with the public and telling me the original founder I could not share the vcoc or what happened. Yes I have proof of it all.

This group put posts out claiming certain productions limits that turned out to be false and New-Indy was actually producing more (proof from their own reports to the state and epa). See the problem is when people like to pretend but don't do the work like Erin and I actually do. 466 members in their group when there are around 450 employees. Odd isn't it. Sad that Erin would even publish such nonsense.

I live in Westminster, MA. An "organic natural" composting site was a dump site for paper sludge, and waste for the last 15 plus years. They sold the soil and compost to Grocery Chains and farmers and builders. The land was a poultry farm that was losing money so the owner of a Global Paper Company bought it and under many LLC's was able to distance himself. Dumped tons of Contaminated waste. Now 1/3 and growing of residents private drinking wells that they depend on are contaminated. One well testing the highest in the state at 5500 ppt. Now Bob Kraft and Schwartz partners has purchased land here abutting protected land to build a large container board manufacturing plant. They will give no declarations of omissions and plan on dumping waste into municipal sewer. Town has green lit all of this and has silenced public comment.

One last thing your buddy with the podcast created this mess with the other group and you and when I called her on it she started harrassing via phone and text and slandering me on a community Facebook Group which wasn't the truth. Someone sent me a screenshot and she caused all sorts of problems in a local community group for a local development she lives in now. I even had a phone call with her about this situation so she was well aware before hand. Thus article is less than truthful. Their group has 350 when the original that tells the truth have over 3,000 and grows my the hundreds weekly now. Have a blessed day

I also texted Susan last week and never got a repsonse so I know you don't do the due diligence anymore. Unfortunately you've gone soft and I no longer want to be like you. That's just my opinion.

There is another FB group called Carolinians for Business Ethics & Accountability that has been working on this issue from the beginning. There are over 3,500 members of the local SC and NC communities that are being affected on a daily basis from the toxic emissions. This is about New Indy putting profits over people and polluting the environment. If they truly wanted to be a good neighbor to the citizens who live and work around their plant, they would implement the corrective fixes NOW to help the environment and to restore the quality of life of thousands of people! CFORTE is another FB group that was started and is part of New Indy's "community engagement board," but it's apparent that New Indy is calling the shots here and doing what they want to do, on their time line, while thousands of people are suffering daily. Not to mention the untreated waste water dumping that is happening to our local water source, the Catawba River. I applaud that The Brockovich Report is writing this piece, but we need action NOW, not years and years from now. We would welcome Erin Brockovich and team to our corner of SC to discuss and view what is happening to our wonderful communities!

I'm happy and grateful that you've shared our story, but there's another group of people who have been fighting New Indy's pollution as well. This is also not an issue strictly related to COVID, as the pollution has been noticeable and increasing since 2018. Homeowners and residents are suffering immensely, and so are pets and wildlife in the area. The idea that this isn't a "quick fix" is also not entirely true - if New Indy would simply spend the money to update their stripping equipment, that would resolve a lot of the immediate issues. Again, thank you so much for sharing our story, I hope that you'll stay involved and talk to more of us. I would love to speak with you.
