It is about time!!! This is the first step and opens the door for the rest of us. It seems like forever ago that you shared my story. Finally, after sharing my story over and over again to my doctors at not one, but two major hospitals are we finally getting somewhere.
Yesterday I finally got my referral to Emory Environmental Toxicology Clinic to begin the testing process and finally proving that it was the water on NAS Alameda that made me sick.
Liver failure and numerous autoimmune diseases that I fight everyday because I drank water they knew was toxic and killing the fish.
I want the government, Congress and everyone else to know they have not heard the last from me. I will continue this fight for all of us that we’re exposed to the toxic water that they knew was there and continued to allow us to drink.
Leslie, so sorry to hear it and I know there are many families like yours. Such a great question and one I know many families will continue to fight for.
This is a huge step in the right direction. Veterans have all earned this. Now the biggest hurdle will be making the VA set this up so that it is easy for all Veterans to have access to help
Yes, there's talk of the VA making strides to prep for this but delays should unfortunately be expected. Taking away burden of proof on many conditions will help the process immensely.
Thank you. Finally! Appreciate all the awareness you’ve kept alive during this. It’s heartbreaking to see the suffering for so long- hopefully this can alleviate others’ moving forward. The chemicals are still there, but at least they can get treatment for it. Literally the least Congress could do.
You are wrong about not having to prove connection. My husband was stationed at Fort Devens Massachusetts, he was in the 10th Special Forces. Fort Devens was more toxic than Camp Lejeune, Fort Devens was rated by the EPA as a 42 out of 100 and Lejeune was a 33 out of 100. My husband passed away from Liver Cancer on March 3, 2021 and I applied for DIC benefits in December. I just got a package saying I have to send proof it was service connected. I sent his DD214, Death Certificate and Marriage certificate when I filed, that should have been enough.

Finally! My parents were exposed at Fort McClellan, and then my father was exposed again in Vietnam.
All of us have health issues. When will the generational exposure be addressed?

Yes but this is going to swamp the Department and I don’t think they will be able to find the employees that this is going to require

The lowest hanging fruit! And so greatly needed.
