The part that didn’t make this news story is how, thanks to tort reform of the late 90s, class action lawsuits are a thing of the past.
All we (the harmed patients) have now is MDL, which means you file suit & get put on a shelf BY THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM ITSELF for 10-20 years, while JnJ/Medtronic/Bauer/Stryker/Glaxo/etc waits for you to die.
Endings like what you saw in Erin Brockovich & The Rainmaker simply can’t happen anymore. Tort reform made sure class action went away.
Also the other thing this story didn’t have time to cover was how the science/research has been absolutely bought by the Pharma industry.
I learned that by sitting in on two trials in Dallas, TX... to try to learn the truth about my devices & why my health ranked so dramatically after I got them.
These were other people’s trials I attended, as I searched for the truth... civil bellwether trials over legal claims made against JnJ over my same hip devices.
The science used to sell my hips created out of lies... fraudulently conducted “research,” that had been covertly funded by JnJ dollars, run through sham 501(c)3s, which are the vehicle Pharma uses now to hide the money trail.

Dennis Paustenbach did JnJ funded work too that “concluded” cobalt doesn’t affect the human body until it reaches 300ppb. Thank you for your important work! I am recently experiencing severe pelvic cramping and random vaginal bleeding. I’m worried these symptoms and a myriad of others ( a 20 pound weight loss, daily GI upset and loss of appetite) are related to my implanted essure device. Hoping there are still active essure patient resources out there to help me figure out if this device is causing my current heath issues.
I need advice?? A failed styker-ortho hip disintegrated in my then 57 yr old body in 2019 within 3 months. In 6 months I had severe symptoms and NO one would check my blood levels or listen to me. Not the surgeon, or promary care doc, or the ER or walk-in clinic. I diagnosed myself, found a new surgeon, after calling The New England Baptist Hospital Advocacy line. She gave me the head of Joint Replacement. Within 5 minutes of meeting him he said I was being poisoned and was a full reconstructive hip replacement candidate and it should be done asap. The saddest part for me is paying all these bills AGAIN and am on my 3rd attempt with a large Boston law firm to find out what type of case I have other than MDL. Supposedly the attorney I chose this 3rd time was because she has won Stryker cases in the past. About to fire this one too and call the MA Attorney General’s office.
NOBODY KNOWS WOMEN STILL DON'T HAVE OUR EQUAL RIGHTS OFFICALLY ON THE BOOKS OR RATIFIED AS WOMEN.... Fluoroquinolones, including ciprofloxacin, are associated with disabling and potentially irreversible serious adverse reactions that have occurred together, including tendinitis and tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, and CNS effects. Discontinue ciprofloxacin and avoid use of fluoroquinolones in patients with these serious adverse reactions. Reserve use of ciprofloxacin for patients with no alternative treatment options for an uncomplicated UTI. Fluoroquinolones, including ciprofloxacin, may exacerbate muscle weakness in persons with myasthenia gravis. Avoid in patients with known history of myasthenia gravis.
Increased Risk of Aortic Aneurysm and Dissection After Fluoroquinolone Intake.
Systemic and inhaled fluoroquinolones may be associated with an increased risk of aortic aneurysm and dissection (especially in older patients).
Conditions predisposing to aortic aneurysm and dissection include: family history of aneurysm disease, preexisting aortic aneurysm and/or aortic dissection, other risk factors/conditions (e.g., Marfan syndrome, vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Takayasu arteritis, giant cell arteritis, Behcet's disease, hypertension, known atherosclerosis/peripheral atherosclerotic vascular diseases, elderly).
Recommendations:
Use fluoroquinolones in patients at risk for aortic aneurysm and dissection only after careful benefit/risk assessment and after other therapeutic options have been considered.
Avoid prescribing fluoroquinolones to patients with/at risk for aortic aneurysm; prescribe fluoroquinolones to such patients only when no other treatment options are available.

I am a victim of emplantation of a device I’m not allowed to mention as well. 35 symptoms, surgery to correct first surgery, medical bills not being covered and not getting compensation deserved. 5 years ago, my Paragard split into pieces upon removal. The removal was painful and traumatic, resulting in having to schedule a surgical removal with sedation. This cost a lot of money. I just delivered my baby girl, a miracle child we waited years for. My body can't handle another pregnancy. Now I am faced with dreaded birth control decisions again, and I'm terrible with pills.
