Yes, this is kind of the elephant in the room in this whole discussion. This county went heavily for Trump in 2016, 2020, and 2024. Prior to that they were all in on the oil and gas industry that enriched a few but did nothing to improve the quality of life for most residents and in fact made things worse. The promised economic boom never happened.
But many still refuse to connect the dots between their votes and the way things have steadily deteriorated - or between their opposition to environmental regulations and the issues they're dealing with. They are still voting for republican policies that harm the environment and that impoverish the workers.
But why? Why would they do this? This region was once proudly progressive. We had a robust labor movement that fought hard against predatory corporations. What changed?
It's essential to note that this area has been subjected to an onslaught of far right disinformation since the 90s. Folks have had it hammered into their heads that democrats are anti-American extremists ... even as they themselves continue to promote leaders who are selling out our country, resources, and people.
It was very much in the interests of corporate extractors to crush any potential opposition by means of propaganda.
I'm a journalist who lives in the area. For years, I have seen the quality of life here deteriorate. The villages are dying, infrastructure crumbling, opportunities vanishing. And I've seen the villages scramble for desperately needed infrastructure funding, funding made possible by democratic leaders. Then vote those leaders out. And vote corporate predators in.
And the corporate elites and billionaires love it. Keep the people poor and desperate so they'll keep buying the lies and sacrifice themselves to make the rich richer.
I truly hope the folks here will remember our honorable labor history, and organize for justice and a better life...and thsy the trees will stop voting for the axe.

Blatant and obvious cause. The complaint filings are silly, unskilled, uneducated. Protecting their future claims not to go for the big change for safety. So obvious.

Do you know that the sourcer water for Cadiz, Tappan Lake, was recently fracked by Encino after the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District leased the reservoir?
I worked for Culligan, and if you’re on a boil order you should bypass any RO filtration system until the order has expired. The RO system will be contaminated by that same water if you don’t, and the filters will need replacing. That doesn’t apply to water softeners.

Other options to consider are a water distiller or, especially if the primary concern is bacterial, a box solar cooker with a WAPI device.
They both have pros and cons, I'm not going to pretend they're perfect solutions, but... Needs must, right?
God knows how long it'll be for the infrastructure to be properly addressed
