Opposition to AI data centers has moved from planning commission meetings to the ballot. Plus: An engineer proposing a different kind of data center (read to the end).
@Erin Brockovich and everyone. DATA CENTERS IN OCEANS. About the size of a shipping container, failure rate less than land based, powered by offshore energy and in a cold environment. Another selling point to curtail pushback is that 50% of us live near coasts so why doesn't "our" data? Of course there are other obvious owner benefits such as largely unmanned and out of public view. Who gives permission for this?! Is Starlink involved? Check out Project Natick at Microsoft Research: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/research/project/natick/
Another owner benefit, few if any protestors to deal with for deployment out at sea! So apparently the "research" is happening in the North Sea. Who is to say these things are not already widely in place? And do they have anything to do with the many "neutrino" labs in the world? How many are really needed? As I recall, there are sister neutrino sites in eastern America that both send and receive information so are not "passive" detectors. There are also neutrino labs planned for, or under way, within the Mediterranean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. Eric Hecker, maintenance contractor at the South Pole for a year said (on Shawn Ryan Show Ep 66 #3) that the in-ice neutrino lab there (1 km x 1 km x 1 km array of DOMs, digital optical modules) caused the Christchurch earthquakes in NZ.
really interested to see how all of these turn out. data centers don’t fit the normal tribal lines we’re used to seeing at the polls.
It's all so wreckless. We the People need our say! Thank you Erin.

We wish Big Tech would leave California forever and be some other state's headache.
Soooooo, I think you should be selling these campaign buttons.
