Thank you for this essay! You ask to know what we think. I think it's terrible:
- that children are getting sick due to lead exposure, and the promises of healthy futures compromised,
- that children are missing school and important social interactions for fear of further lead exposure,
- that FEMA money previously designated to a state suddenly gets rescinded, and
- that so many states, cities and counties have not updated their systems' pipes and plants as they were needed and that they didn't then, incrementally, transfer the costs to consumers over time, and schools also did not make the schools safe for the children and faculty. Do they think that consumers would honestly prefer drinking lead-laced water and having their community's children getting terribly sick? Where's the common sense?
5 days of no running water from the pipes and warnings to boil water is no way to live when it could have and should have been avoided. Natural disasters have increased, including flooding, so let's get started people! Things are only going to get more expensive around these parts (U.S.).
I, myself, have yet to verify a report that the new San Francisco Mayor is allowing refuse into local open bodies of water. It disgusts me because I remember when they built that water plant and passed on the costs to all households. If it's time to upgrade then it's time. No time like the present. It's never going to get any easier or cheaper. The water plant in S.F. is located across the road from a beach and the Pacific Ocean. It's not okay with me if they're allowing refuse into those waters where kids, surfers, dogs, birds and marine life frolick.
And an area about two hours north of S.F. called The Russian River, named after the river by the same name, always experiences flooding from overflows during heavy rains and not only do the houses get flooded, but so does their water treatment facility which then dumps into the Pacific Ocean as well.
The new U.S. administration has made solving all these problems ever more difficult. They clearly don't share the concern about the environment and reject to take on any responsibility. The favor non-renewable energy just because it's easier politically than to face the real problems for all our futures. I wish those politicians opposing the Republican would do everything they can, really, everything they can, and there's a lot, to combat this fiasco. They need to point to every horrible mistake made by the current U.S. government, and challenge them every single day, in the media, on social media, and especially in Congress. Hearings, investigations, we need it all. Thanks for all you do Erin. And thanks to all who help you.
I just discovered I am filled with toxic glyphosates and just not feeling well. I’m doing a special detox to save my life! Zyto scan gave me a comprehensive graph showing what is going on in my body! We must hold these monsters accountable for crimes against humanity!! So proud of you my lady✨💖✨
Cause and effect. Thanks to trump and the Republican administration they are not addressing lead poisoning of our children.
This country is going to hell in a hand basket
The govt is searching for ways to kill us off. Especially people of color. I was a State of Texas Lead/Pb inspector. This is very serious
PS. Huge governmental monetary payout is owed to families whose kids are damaged by the lead in public water systems!!
NO COST is too high to protect schools from enforced consumption of lead-saturated water !!!
REBUILD THOSE DAMNABLE SCHOOLS' WATER SYSTEMS!!
THOSE WHO SAY "NO" HAVE TO GO !!
Trump making Americans sick.
